WHERE
YOUR SILVER SPEAKER
CABLE MONEY REALLY GOES
The majority of the worlds most costly high
definition speaker cables (typically over $1,000 per
pair) are made from pure silver conductors with Teflon
insulation. Why? These expensive materials generally are
thought to sound the best.
Prices for these premium speaker cables are high for
these reasons: The materials (pure silver and Teflon) and
the labor-intensive processes, both are costly.
Then, the manufacturer expends enormous resources on
advertising, to maintain a "name brand." These
advertising expenses must be added to the final product
cost. Also, speaker cables are not sold directly to end
users. Instead, manufacturers sell to stereo dealers who
resell the product to end users, after adding their
markup. Dealers typically charge twice their cost.
They must earn this amount, as profit, in order to
survive, because they, too, have necessary high costs-
rent, advertising, salaries and sales commissions,
business taxes, etc.
Lets analyze the distribution of funds paid by the
end user for a pair of 8-foot solid silver and Teflon
speaker cables from a hypothetical name brand
manufacturer:

What if you could eliminate the last five items above?
Then what would this $2,000 pair of solid silver and
Teflon speaker cables cost you? Yes, $200.
Unfortunately, its not possible to eliminate all
five items entirely- but you can come very close to doing
that by purchasing our easy to assemble 99.999% pure
solid silver and Teflon speaker cable kits, direct
from the manufacturer (us), and by assembling them,
yourself.
THE
SOUND OF
SOLID SILVER AND TEFLON
When you replace your copper speaker cables (even more
expensive copper cables) with our Teflon-insulated,
99.999% solid silver conductor speaker cables, you may think
you have just installed expensive new electronics,
because of the across-the-board sonic improvements you
should experience-
The highs sounding less harsh and more delicately
musical. The bass, less "bloated" and more
revealing of instrumental textures and specific notes.
The all-important mid-range (where most of the music
resides) should sound more natural and warm, with
human voices sounding more like real people, and musical
instruments more convincingly "live."
A new, "liquid" and flowing quality should
reveal more of the intrinsic beauty of the original
musical event.
The stereo sound stage becomes more specific, with
instruments and voices each appearing from a smaller
localized area in the stereo image. There is a more
distinct "layering" of the sound, with the
ability to retrieve the original recorded "depth of
field" to a greater extent.
COMPARE
OUR CABLES WITH THEIRS
We have compared our solid silver and Teflon speaker
cables with a number of ready-made offerings costing
up to ten times the price of our kit. In every case,
we were delighted with the results. Sometimes, it was
difficult to distinguish ours from theirs. And the few
times when theirs sounded better, it was by a very,
small margin. But, make your own comparisons. You may
be pleasantly surprised by what you hear.
ASSEMBLING
THE SOLID SILVER
AND TEFLON SPEAKER CABLE KITS
MODEL AG5N15-8
EIGHT FOOT PAIR SOLID SILVER AND TEFLON
SPEAKER CABLES (AFTER ASSEMBLY)
No technical knowledge and no soldering are required to
assemble these kits! Using ordinary scissors, simply cut
12 pieces of Teflon tubing to the correct length, and
temporarily stretch them out in a straight line, taping
them to the carpet or floorboards, using common removable
masking tape. Then insert the solid silver conductors
into each Teflon tube, simply by pushing it through, with
the fingers, cutting the silver conductors to length with
the same scissors, after they are inserted.
Then, for each of the two stereo channels, group the now
Teflon-insulated conductors into three pairs. Last, weave
the three pairs of wires together in the simple braided
pattern shown in the photograph. This is the same
familiar weaving pattern used throughout the ages for
"braiding" human hair.
Detailed instructions guide you through the process,
check-off as-you-go! Anyone should be able to
successfully complete the kit, in just a few hours.
PHYSICAL
CONFIGURATION
There are two major, popular configurations for
high-definition speaker cables- woven or
"braided" conductors and side-by-side
conductors. Both have the potential to sound excellent,
and have compelling technical arguments. We have chosen
to use elements of both philosophies in our design. One
pair of conductors is positioned side-by-side, while two
additional conductor pairs are woven so that the negative
and positive conductors repetitively cross each other at
steep angles. Three different diameters of solid
silver conductors are utilized, to help avoid resonances,
which could possibly diminish performance.
TERMINATIONS
Terminating thick speaker cables is difficult. When the
bundle of silver conductors is too thick to fit into the
holes of the connectors on speakers and amplifiers,
hardware must be used to reduce the bundle to a size
which will fit. Unfortunately, most of this hardware is
detrimental to sound quality.
Our "termination strategy" is to avoid this
extra, undesirable hardware by limiting the thickness of
our solid silver conductor "bundle" to an
aggregate diameter equivalent to 15AWG conductors. This
size will normally fit snugly in most amplifier and
speaker terminals, while avoiding the sonic losses
associated with termination hardware.
Many ready made silver cables use 14AWG-equivalent
conductors which is a little thicker, for slightly more
power handling capability. However, this size will not
fit into many standard connectors without the addition of
terminating hardware. We have found, in our listening
tests, that the advantage gained by use of the thicker
conductor is often offset by the sonic losses introduced
by the needed termination hardware. For extremely high
power applications, where larger than 15AWG conductors
are required, we recommend using two of our 15AWG cables,
in parallel, for an aggregate conductor size of 12AWG.
This "double" configuration will, of course,
typically require termination hardware, and any of the
popular available types may be utilized.
